About Brian McKinnon
Brian was born in 1957 in Geraldton WA and settled in Victoria around 30 years ago.
A practicing artist for many years, Brian works primarily with acrylic. He has been a finalist and prize-winner of many awards and his work features in numerous public collections.
Since 1996 Brian has been a prolific national and international exhibitor, holding frequent solo hangings in Italy.
With cultural influences flowing from his paternal Wongai people, Brian also has a rich Yamatji nation heritage. Drawing on a contemporary indigenous life and broad life experience, Brian’s work is a reflection of tradition and history that celebrates aboriginal life.
Brian is an energetic contributor to his local Wathaurong community where he lives with his wife and family.
